DESCRIPTION:Italian Heritage Parade and Festa\nSunday\, October 13\, 2024\n12:30 to 5 pm \nThe Hill 2000 Neighborhood Association is hosting the 157th Italian Heritage Parade and Festa on Sunday\, October 13 at Berra Park. This is a day to celebrate our Italian heritage highlighting some of our finest Italian community members and businesses on The Hill. \nItalian Heritage Parade and Festa is a family-friendly celebration of food\, music\, fun and games. The parade will wind through the historic streets of The Hill starting at the corner of Botanical and Macklind at 12:30 pm. Festa will start immediately after the parade at Berra Park and will include local food and beverage vendors\, music\, family-friendly activities and more! \nEnjoy food and drinks from local restaurants including: 2nd Shift Brewery\, Bartolino’s on The Hill\, Café Dolce\, Carnivore\, Gelato di Riso\, Guido’s\, Joey B’s\, Pizzeria da Gloria\, Rigazzi’s\, Stella’s Bread & Breakfast\, Italia-America Bocce Club and The Shaved Ice Shack. \nWe have plenty of shopping opportunities from local vendors including Animal House\, Cat Rescue Adoption Center\, Brown Crouppen\, Chapter NM PEO\, Clauser Creations\, Fratellanza Society\, Mothers Helping Mothers\, Mud City Soaps\, Phoenix A+ Coaching\, Renewal by Anderson\, Sicilian Cultural Association\, Saint Ambrose 8th Grade\, Studio Magnolia and Talia STL. \nEnjoy music from The ShinSings Orchestra! A 13 piece “little big band” that plays classic pop\, big band swing and Frank Sinatra music. The band is led by Steve Shininger\, a former percussionist in the Uniter States Air Force. \nNEW EVENT! SUMMARY:New! The Red Sauce Challenge
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, October 13th\, the Italian Heritage Parade & Festa on The Hill presents The Red Sauce Challenge\, a tasting competition of Italian cuisine’s staple. The winner will receive a coveted Golden Ticket to compete at the World Food Championships! \nWhether they call it Sugo\, Amatriciana\, Bolognese\, Marinara\, or Pommodoro – competitors can enter whichever red sauce floats their gravy boat. Contestants provide a quart of their best red sauce recipe to be judged by our great city’s top influencers. The contest will feature a home cook flight and a professional flight. Twelve slots\, 6 in each grouping\, with one winner awarded a Golden Ticket. \nJudges dip fresh-from-The-Hill bread into each of the sauces and score them live in person. Results will be tabulated and announced before the musical entertainer’s last set. WFC State Partner Show Me Series will host a booth illuminated by Pepe Kehm of Peno Soul Food and Rose by Peno with Italian sweet bites\, along with a raffle of baskets from contest sponsors. \n  \nCompetitor registration is open now for all home and professional cooks here\n  \nIt’s the Red Sauce Challenge\, a Golden Ticket qualifier for the World Food Championships\, and it could only happen at the Italian Heritage Parade & Festa on The Hill!
