Protecting The Hill Together

A collaborative safety initiative led by The Hill 2000 Neighborhood Association and The Hill Business Association to enhance neighborhood safety, deter crime, and strengthen confidence in our community.

The Hill Community Safety Initiative is a collaborative effort between The Hill 2000 Neighborhood Association and The Hill Business Association to explore a modern approach to neighborhood safety.

This initiative introduces drone patrol technology to help monitor public areas during higher-risk hours, improve nighttime visibility and support faster response to suspicious activity.

The goal is simple: enhance safety, deter crime, and strengthen confidence in The Hill — while protecting privacy and preserving the character of our neighborhood.

How the Initiative Works

The program focuses on crime prevention and public safety support, not surveillance.

What it does

  • Provides drone patrols during evening and overnight hours
Monitors public areas such as streets, alleys, and parking lots
  • Helps quickly verify suspicious activity
  • Supports faster emergency response when needed

What it does not do

  • No facial recognition technology
  • No monitoring of private homes or backyards
  • No monitoring of schools or playgrounds
  • No routine surveillance of individuals

The system is designed to focus only on public safety incidents in public areas.

Why It Matters
Neighborhood safety benefits everyone who lives, works and visits The Hill.

This initiative aims to:

  • Improve nighttime safety
  • Protect homes, vehicles, and businesses
  • Support residents, employees, and visitors
  • Strengthen long-term confidence in the neighborhood

If implemented, the program would be operated by certified professionals with clear policies, oversight and strong privacy protections.
